Nitrile

Nitrile seals aren’t made using only nitrile, but it is the main ingredient in nitrile rubber. Nitrile rubber that is used to create multi-purpose seals is a copolymer blend of acrylonitrile and butadiene.
We encourage our customers to choose nitrile if they spend a lot of time working with oils or they require a gasket or seal that will come in contact with lubrication. Nitrile works best in warmer temperatures and is generally resistant to almost all oils, greases and fats.

Generally resistant to:
Most Hydrocarbons. Fats, oils, greases, hydraulic fluids, chemicals, and solvents.
Generally affected or attacked by:
Ketones, esters, aldehydes, nitro, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Ozone, polar solvents, and MEK.
Also known as Buna-N, this synthetic rubber is used for various parts where ordinary rubbers cannot be used. A few examples of these can be found in the automotive and aeronautical industry to make fuel and oil handling hoses, seals, and grommets, since ordinary rubbers cannot be used. Other items such as molded goods, footwear, adhesives, sealants, sponges, expanded foams, and floor mats are made of this material.
Nitrile is best known for its uses where oils are present. It can also be produced in white with FDA ingredients.
